‘King’s Speech’ takes the crown at Oscars

I struck out tonight: I only got nine out of 24 Oscar nominations right for the 83rd Academy Awards. I know, it’s pitiful. I think some of my personal preferences got in the way of my better judgment. Oh well. That just goes to show how many amazing films were released this year.

Quick highlights:
-Best picture went to “The King’s Speech”
-Best leading actor went to Colin Firth for “The King’s Speech”
-Best leading actress went to Natalie Portman for “Black Swan”
-Best director went to Tom Hooper for “The King’s Speech”

While I would have preferred “Black Swan” win best picture, I cannot say that I am surprised. “King’s Speech” was basically crafted for the Academy.
