What’s opening in theaters this week

DIVERGENT (PG-13): “The Descendants’” Shailene Woodley stars in the first adaptation of Veronica Roth’s wildly popular novels about a race of beings who don’t fit in with the rest of the world’s population.

ENEMY (R): Jake Gyllenhaal reunites with his “Prisoners” director Denis Villeneuve for this thriller, based on Jose Saramago’s novel, about a man looking for his doppelganger after seeing him in a movie.

MUPPETS MOST WANTED (PG): Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey, Christoph Waltz and Salma Hayek are among the famous names in this second installment of the newly revived franchise featuring Jim Henson’s beloved creations.

NYMPHOMANIAC: VOL. I (unrated): The first half of director Lars Von Trier’s mammoth (4 1/2 hours) and graphic exploration of sexual addiction centers on a woman (Charlotte Gainsbourg) recounting her carnal escapades. Uma Thurman, Christian Slater and Shia LaBeouf co-star.
