‘The Stick of Truth’ shines thanks to creators’ personal involvement
I didn’t think “South Park: The Stick of Truth” would live up to the hype. Besides being delayed multiple times, I only had previous South Park games with which to compare it, most of which were terrible. Not to mention this release was planned as turn-based role-playing game, which is one of my favorite game genres. To say I was nervous would be an understatement.
How silly I was to worry so much.
But not as silly as “Stick of Truth,” which is basically a 14-hour interactive episode of “South Park.” With strong direction from the show’s creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, “Stick of Truth” is hilarious from start to finish, reveling in the show’s typical raunchiness and offensiveness. We’re taking enemies battles while in someone’s lower intestines, disturbing sex scenes, obscenely common foul language from young children, murderous aliens and a government conspiracy involving Taco Bell and German Nazi zombies. Or is it Nazi German zombies?
