Opening Friday
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” (PG-13): Box office records are ready to be broken by the return of the Marvel Comics superhero team. This time, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) square off against Ultron (voiced by James Spader), a robotic baddie who wants to, you know, rule the world, Newcomers include Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlett Witch, Paul Bettany as The Vision and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver. Joss Whedon wrote and directed for the second (and final) time.
“About Elly” (unrated): Before he made A Separation, Oscar-winner Asghar Farhadi wrote and directed this acclaimed mystery about the disappearance of a kindergarten teacher in northern Iran.
“Roar” (PG): The little-seen 1981 cult classic, reputed to be the most dangerous film ever made, features Tippi Hedren and Melanie Griffith fighting off a pack of hungry lions attacking their home. Stunt doubles were barely used in the making of this movie.
