“Trainwreck” (R): After becoming a star through her popular TV skit show, Amy Schumer ventures into film with this comedy (directed by Knocked Up’s Judd Apatow) about a woman afraid of commitment who is trying to find an excuse not to date a nice guy (Bill Hader).
“Ant-Man” (PG-13): The Marvel Comics movie universe expands with the introduction of this vintage hero (played by Paul Rudd) with the ability to shrink to the size of an ant while retaining super-strength. Michael Douglas co-stars as his mentor.
“Mr. Holmes” (PG): Ian McKellen reunites with his “Gods and Monsters” director Bill Condon for this drama about the final years in the life of the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes, still trying to crack the one case that slipped away from him.

“Ex Machina” (DVD/Blu-ray): A reclusive entrepreneur (Oscar Isaac) invites one of his employees (Domhnall Gleeson) to spend a week in his futuristic mansion and get to know his latest creation – a sentient female robot named Ava (Alicia Vikander). The movie marks the directorial debut of novelist/screenwriter Alex Garland (“The Beach,” “28 Days Later”).
“It Follows” (DVD/Blu-ray): Writer-director David Robert Mitchell’s acclaimed, unusual horror film centers on a group of teenagers stalked by an evil presence that is passed on through sexual contact.
“The Longest Ride” (DVD/Blu-ray): Scott Eastwood is a rodeo rider who falls for a New York City college student (Britt Robertson) in the latest adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks novel.
“The Black Stallion” (DVD/Blu-ray): Director Carroll Ballard’s 1979 family classic about an Arabian stallion trained to be a race horse gets the Criterion Collection treatment, replete with extra features.
