What’s opening in theaters this week

Opening Friday:
“Steve Jobs” (R): Michael Fassbender plays the controversial genius who founded Apple in this drama adapted from Walter Isaacson’s best-selling biography by screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (“The Social Network”) and director Danny Boyle (“Slumdog Millionaire”).
“Goosebumps” (PG): Jack Black plays author R.L. Stine in this scary-funny adaptation of his popular children’s horror novels.
“Crimson Peak” (R): Director Guillermo del Toro returns to the fantastical horror turf of “Pan’s Labyrinth” with this tale about the goings-on inside a creepy house in the mountains where a man (Tom Hiddleston) lives with his sister (Jessica Chastain) and his new bride (Mia Wasikowska).
“Bridge of Spies” (PG-13): Steven Spielberg directs Tom Hanks in this thriller (co-written by Joel and Ethan Coen) about a Brooklyn lawyer assigned by the CIA to negotiate the release of a pilot being held captive by the Soviet Union during the Cold War.
“Victoria” (unrated): Sebastian Schipper’s one-of-a-kind crime thriller, shot in a single take, focuses on a runaway party girl who’s asked by three friendly men to join them as they hit the town. Their wild night of partying turns into a bank robbery.


In stores Tuesday:
“Tomorrowland” (DVD/Blu-ray): George Clooney stars in director Brad Bird’s ambitious sci-fi family adventure.
“San Andreas” (DVD/Blu-ray): Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson tries to save the day – or as many people as he can – when the Big One finally hits California.
“Dope” (DVD/Blu-ray): Comedy-drama about three self-proclaimed “geeks” trying to survive the mean streets of Inglewood, Calif.
“The Brood” (DVD/Blu-ray): David Cronenberg creepy 1979 horrorshow about motherhood gets the Criterion Collection treatment.
