Opening Friday
“The Revenant” (R): Leonardo DiCaprio is an early 19th-century frontiersman seeking revenge on the fur trapper (Tom Hardy) who killed his son in director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s ferocious follow-up to his Oscar-winning “Birdman.”
“The Forest” (PG-13): A young woman searches for her twin sister in a Japanese forest only to find herself surrounded by paranormal forces.
“Hitchcock/Truffaut” (PG-13): Wes Anderson, Olivier Assayas, David Fincher and other famous filmmakers talk about how they were influenced by the book-length conversation between Alfred Hitchcock and Francois Truffaut originally published in 1966.

In stores Tuesday:
“Sicario” (DVD/Blu-ray): Emily Blunt is an FBI agent enlisted by two mysterious government operatives (Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro) to wage war against a Mexican drug cartel.
“The Walk” (DVD/Blu-ray): Robert Zemeckis directs this whimsical retelling of the story of the French wire-walker (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) who performed an astounding stunt between the two towers of the World Trade Center in 1974.
“The Green Inferno” (DVD/Blu-ray): A group of college activists travel to the Amazon on an ecological mission and run into some hungry cannibals.
“True Detective: The Second Season” (DVD/Blu-ray): Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams and Vince Vaughn star in the critically maligned year two of the HBO police procedural.
“The Visit” (DVD/Blu-ray): Director M. Night Shyamalan returns to his spooky roots with this thriller about two siblings who spend a week visiting their peculiar grandparents.
