One of the movies coming to theaters this weekend is “Beastly,” which amounts to a modern-day version of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.” It’s stars Alex Pettyfer (“I am Number Four”) and Vanessa Hudgens (“High School Musical”). Its seems Pettyfer’s character is as vain, shallow and superficial as the any member of the “Jersey Shore” cast, and a witch casts a horrifying spell on him, making him look more like the monster he is inside. After that, it’s a race against time for him to find someone who will love him for the man he is, not what he looks like. That’s where Hudgens come in. From there, it’s a classic love story with its own modern twists.
“Beastly” will be in theaters Friday, March 4. It is rated PG-13 and runs 95 minutes.
